Spring is the season of growth, renewal, and repair. Winter’s cold, snow, and ice disappear, leaving chaos behind. This past winter was particularly harsh and especially long. By early February the town of Fairfield alone used more than 4,000 tons of sand on its roads and almost 1,500 tons of salt. For the same time period the State D.O.T. used 147,000 tons of salt, nearly equal to the 151,000 tons they used the previous year. source: CT Post
What has this done to the roads? I’m sure your mechanic can tell you that. Fishers the size of the Grand Canyon with pot holes equally as large are everywhere have made navigating through streets and driveways treacherous.
A good spring clean-up will help recover from winter and let you relax all summer long. Maintaining your driveway – the path to your home – is a great place to start. Here are 4 simple items that can help you spruce things up.
- Time to sweep! – Between wicked snow storms and plow blades, your stone driveway could you a nice sweep to get rid of the extra sand and relocate stone where needed.
- Rolling stones are great! – Add stone and gravel where needed. Not only will it freshen up your driveway it will protect your sub-surface.
- Take a closer look – Give your driveway and honest evaluation and ask “Is my driveway due for some maintenance or is it fine? How do I keep it looking splendid?”
- Get a second opinion – Call in a professional to give you an honest assessment of your driveway.
